The Rise of Patient Capital

In the presentation above, Jacqueline Novogratz proposes a middle way between Venture capital and aid, as a means of helping the world's poorest people. It's called Patient Capital and is a mechanism to provide financing to entrepreneurs and enterprises, so they can bring affordable clean water, housing and healthcare to the poor.

She highlights various promising examples of this tyoe of entrepreneurial innovation driving social change. She notes how, in the eight years she has run The Acumen Fund, she has seen the power of patient capital not only inspire innovation and risk taking, but also create thousands of jobs and bring millions of products and services to some of the poorst people on the planet.

She explains how Patient Capital is focused on building solutions from the perspective of those we are trying to help.
